I have chosen to create an assignment that I wanted to do myself. I think it is a good way of designing an assignment because it gives meaning to the assignment. The assignment should not be without a purpose and I think that the situation which is described in the assignment could be realty. Therefore, to be able to write and formulate a formal letter in English is very important when I am going to be a teacher.
I had two responses to my assignment and they were both very interesting to read. They have both focused on the class and the pupils benefit of this trip and that was very good. What they also had focused on was their own benefits as English teacher and how this trip could be a very good experience for them. I had not thought about this aspect so I was very pleased to read the assignments. I think they both had done a splendid job with my assignment.
I choose to write about a favourite animal because I just love animals! I wanted to write about my dog but since I had already written about him I choose to write about another animal that I like. Since me having the course Culture, Media and Society I am working with a project about Australians animals and therefore I choose one of these animals. I think it was an interesting assignment to do because I should also look for some information about the animal on the Internet and use that in my assignment. This made me learn some more about the animal and as a result of this my essay got richer and more interesting to read.

Save the koala bear!
The koala bear is one of Australia’s most recognizable animals. Tourists from all over the world are coming to see the koala and they are brining over a billion dollars into Australia. Australian nation has laws to protect the koala bear but still koalas are nearly to be exterminated. Today the koala bear's survival depends on the government of Australia to work with conservationists, communities and businesses. Public awareness of the koalas’ situation is very important for its survival.
The koala bear lives in trees and because they are arboreal the destruction of the woodlands and forest are a big threat. The koala eats only a small variety of the hundreds of eucalyptus species and needs large areas of woodland to forage in.
Once numbering in the millions in the 1920s the koala bears now are fewer than 100000koalas and that are 20 % of the original koala habitat. They can be found only in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia. Historical the range stretches across Australia but today they are not to be found other than these few places. Many koalas are killed every year as a resolute of habitat destruction, traffic deaths and also attacks by dogs.
Since the koala bear usually only produce one offspring per year the population do not increase rapidly. The koala bear can live for about 17 years but because of high mortality rates the life expectancy is only 2 to 10 years. There are now nature reserves that include larger koala bears habitats but still we must do what we can to protect the koala. Let us make sure that the koala bear still is one of Australia’s most recognizable animal in the future!

Proficiency exercise 3
Here you are going to write an application. You are a teacher at Kronoparksskolan and you are teaching English. You and your class are in contact with a school in London and you want to visit the school in England. Your Headmaster is interested in giving you money so that you can go to England with your class but first you have to write an application. You have to convince the Headmaster that he are going to give you the money you need.
• The application is going to be written as a formal letter.

• Explain why it is important to you and your class to go to England
• Describe the goals that you have for your pupils with this trip

Proficiency exercise 2
To give more money to the arts school in Hammarö should be the most important election issue 2010!
Today all children in Hammarö commune are welcome to the arts school where they can learn how to play an instrument, how to draw, to dance, to act or to sing. The fact is that many children wants to go to arts school but because of the costs not all children can and therefore I think that this important question has to be discussed in the next election. Today the arts school gets a small contribute from the state but the biggest income comes from the parents who pays charge to the arts school. The arts school does not have their own instruments for the children to borrow because the instruments are so expensive to buy.
As I can see, there are three main reasons to why not all children can join the arts school:
• The first and the most important thing: The arts school costs money. Many parents cannot afford the charge that the arts school costs. This is especially difficult for the families with more than one child, even if there is some reduction of the charge when you have more than one child in arts school. This is a big expense for the families.
• Secondly the arts school have few teachers and this leads to long waiting periods, sometimes even two or three years if the children wants to play the most popular instruments.
• The third reason is that the arts school cannot supply the students with instruments which make the parents forced to pay for buying these instruments. This way also be a very high expend for the families, especially if the children plays instrument that are very expensive to buy.
This makes segregation between the children in our community and we will have a society that not all communal inhabitants have the assets to. The children will be split between the children who live in poor families and the children who live in rich families. I think that all children should have the same opportunities in life and the way the arts school is being financed today is not making this possible.
In poor families there are also important that the children have a comprehensive leisure where not the money is the leading issue. In many sports unions there are high costs to join and if the children are involved in some sport the parents way not have the money to support the arts school too. This is not fare and it doesn’t fit in a modern time to have a society like this.
The money that this reform should require is not so much but the winning is huge. To have children play and act is a lifelong investing in these children. There can never be a vast of money to invest in the future and our children are our future.
So, to sum up my statement, the arts school should be given money from the community taxes so that there could be an arts school for all children in Hammarö.

Price is still 280 sek for all colours. If you're interested I can send the leads by post, just email me and we'll make the arrangements.

The first text was published in a blogg and the blogger is selling leads for dogs. She uses an informal and a simple language in her blogg. The second text was published in a website with articles regarding guidelines for how Sweden is working with healthcare for animails.
My own text is about a little insekt called tick that I meet yesterday. I think you can see the different ways of discribing the tick and how to get rid of it.

What the hell?? An ugly little bustard is climbing around in my cockers fur, just to find a nice place to bury his head down my babes skin and start sucking for blood! I succeeded to get the creep of Ms body and tried to kill it. Have you ever tried to kill a tick? It's F impossible!!!!That's why they survive on our earth I think, they are small, creepy and has a body like a little stone! Bla,bla...sure...everyone is important, all animals to....but not this one!!! How it ended? Well, I throw the tick in the toilet, hope it cannot swim...

The tick I found yesterday in my English Cocker spaniels fur is a remarkble little animal. The tick is a very small animal that lives under the skin of other animals and suck their blood. If a tick should be found in your's animal's coat, it can be remowed correctly with special tick tweezers. The best is if you find the tick and can remove it before it has been able to bore into the skin and began draw tissue fluids such as blood.

So, we got a new car!
Well, we are really exited today! We have been at the car-shop (or what you call it) and we have decided to buy a new car. On wednesday it's ours finally, there were some things that should be fixed first but then we can pick it up. Love it!

Ja, då var man på gång med en blogg! Ni kanske undrar över mitt namn...? Ja, va fan, många är så åldersifxerade o äldre blir man vare sig man vill eller inte, så när min man o jag fyllde 40 i februari så döpte vi festen till YES - ÄNTLIGEN 40!
