Save the koala bear!
The koala bear is one of Australia’s most recognizable animals. Tourists from all over the world are coming to see the koala and they are brining over a billion dollars into Australia. Australian nation has laws to protect the koala bear but still koalas are nearly to be exterminated. Today the koala bear's survival depends on the government of Australia to work with conservationists, communities and businesses. Public awareness of the koalas’ situation is very important for its survival.
The koala bear lives in trees and because they are arboreal the destruction of the woodlands and forest are a big threat. The koala eats only a small variety of the hundreds of eucalyptus species and needs large areas of woodland to forage in.
Once numbering in the millions in the 1920s the koala bears now are fewer than 100000koalas and that are 20 % of the original koala habitat. They can be found only in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia. Historical the range stretches across Australia but today they are not to be found other than these few places. Many koalas are killed every year as a resolute of habitat destruction, traffic deaths and also attacks by dogs.
Since the koala bear usually only produce one offspring per year the population do not increase rapidly. The koala bear can live for about 17 years but because of high mortality rates the life expectancy is only 2 to 10 years. There are now nature reserves that include larger koala bears habitats but still we must do what we can to protect the koala. Let us make sure that the koala bear still is one of Australia’s most recognizable animal in the future!

Hi Mari!
SvaraRaderaWell done :) You chose a very vulnerable and threatened animal. I fully agree that this is a animal that needs protection!
This was my instructions:
Take use of the Internet and search for facts about your animal. Identify your source if you have any. Strive to try to convince the readers that your animal is worthy to be loved, to rescue or in other way very important to us.
- 250 words
- Formal language/article
- Begin with a title followed by an introduction that awakens interest for your animal article. Explain why this animal is so important to us (you can lie if you want)and then end it with a closing.
* You used the Internet and identified your sources.
* You convinced me that this is an important animal for us. But most for Australia and their tourists.
* I think that you used a very well written language and you do not have any contractions.
* You have a title, an introduction that really points out why this animal is important and then you have a closing.
* I saw a small spelling error in the introduction "and they are brining over". I think you mean 'bringing'.
* Maybe you could have used another word instead of 'bringing'. I think I would have written like this instead 'Tourists from all over the world are coming to see the koala and they contribute with over a billion dollars into Australia.'
Best regards,
Therese
